PSEO - Post Secondary Education Option
PSEO (Post Secondary Enrollment Option) is an opportunity that allows high school sophomores, juniors and seniors to take college-level courses and earn both high school and college credit.
The PSEO program, funded through the Minnesota Department of Education, covers the high school student's tuition and cost of textbooks for college-level courses (numbered 1000 level or higher).
Talk to your student's school counselor about your student's opportunity. What does reciprocity mean?
Reciprocity allows a student to attend a college outside of their home state for a reduced tuition rate.
Currently, Minnesota has an interstate reciprocity agreement with Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota and the province of Manitoba. This allows students to obtain tuition rates for schools outside their home state at a comparable in-state price.
A secondary reciprocity program exists between the majority of the Midwestern schools. This program is known as the Midwestern Student Exchange Program (MSEP). This program allows students to attend participating schools in these states at a lower tuition rate than the standard out of state tuition price. For additional information and to apply for reciprocity for an MSEP school see the link below. **Minnesota residents interested in a Wisconsin or Dakota school must apply for tuition reciprocity rather than the Midwest Student Exchange Program.**
