Brian Dietz is in his 21st year as a Superintendent and his fourth year here at Chisago Lakes School District.  During his career as a Superintendent, Dietz has led Districts to long-term success in a number of different ways.  Throughout his career, he helped to champion three successful bond campaigns and other capital projects generating approximately $150 million worth of resources that renovated, reimagined, and built facilities.  Brian also championed three operational levies that supported programs, staffing, and long-term planning to meet the needs of the students.  

Highlighting and celebrating the District’s success has also been a cornerstone of his work.  Dietz has worked to incorporate branding into each District, we worked to market the District successes to all stakeholders, and focused on telling the story of how schools elevate the education and opportunities for students.  Brian has led four successful strategic planning processes and helped to launch critical programs and initiatives that focused on student learning and support as well as college and career readiness.  Throughout his career, Districts that he served received awards and accolades for work in a variety of areas which garnered 6 national awards and 11 state awards as well as a number of other honors.  He has been invited to present this work at the local, state, and national levels that focuses on what Districts can achieve when they come together.  In addition, one of his Districts achieved the highest standard for schools in the United States, the National Blue Ribbon School distinction for one of his District’s elementary schools for work in closing the achievement gap.  While in California, one of the middle schools he led was awarded the Distinguished School Award for achievement.  

Partnerships have always been an important aspect of the work he’s done.   During his tenure as a Superintendent, he cemented various university and work force partnerships to expand opportunities for staff and students and provide additional resources that supported the development of strong schools, staff, and students.  He’s served on multiple foundation boards and has been a member of Rotary recognizing the importance of serving and giving back to others plays in the lives of others.  Brian commenced two Angel Funds which served as a scholarship program to ensure no student was priced out of athletics and activities.  He also started his own Dietz Family Foundation Fund to provide additional opportunities for students.      

Prior to returning home to Minnesota, Dietz started his career in California serving as a teacher, a Middle School and High School administrator, and a Superintendent.  He also was an Adjunct Faculty member for Chapman University/Brandman University for approximately nine years instructing in the teaching and administrative programs.  He has served in supportive roles in a number of colleges in Minnesota and will be returning to being an adjunct faculty member at Bethel supporting school leadership.
