In 1888, the Kingsbury Elementary School opened on Angel Hill, a lovely example of Queen Anne architecture. When a fire destroyed the Queen Anne portion (1918), the old elementary school was rebuilt to resemble the 1914 high school addition. A new 1-12 school, was built in 1951, later became the Taylors Falls Elementary School and part of the Chisago Lakes Area School District.

Lindstrom - Center City - Shafer High School 

Lindstrom's earliest school educated grades 1-10. By 1915, community leaders were anxious to have a four-year high school. One year later, Lindstrom and Center City voted to build "Chi-Hi." Completed in 1917, Chi-Hi served grades 1-12 for Lindstrom, Center City and later Shafer, until 1969. The west wing high school was added in 1959.

In 1918, Chisago City erected Lakeside School for grades 1-12. The gym, built by the WPA in 1939, became the preferred site for district tournaments because of its great seating for fans. The school and its memorable gym were retired in 2019 after 100 years of service to the community.

In 1969, school consolidation was behind us. The Chisago City and Lindstrom-Center City-Shafer school districts had finally become one with the hope of building a new high school. The new school district rose to the challenge of healing the community after years of controversy. In 1976, the Chisago Lakes Trojans moved into their new high school on Olinda Trail. The pool area was added in 1983.

In 1993 Wildcat Pride embraced our five towns as one great school district. Every community became our community. Every town celebration was ours to enjoy. Educational opportunities begin in preschool and continue throughout a student's K-12 journey. After high school, our Community Education department offers many programs for adults and families. Students can participate in many sports, fine arts activities, vocational programs, and college prep.  There is learning for everyone who seeks an education at Chisago Lakes Schools. Our greatest strength as a school district exists in our community's support for students, parents, staff, programs, and facilities.
